RE: Eeek i just dnt know??
hi lea89
sorry they dont seem to be getting any closer to a dx, a lot of autistic children have on their statement (educational one)Severe speach & language delays, Severe learning difficulties,Severe behavioural problems, i know matt did for a lot of years and he was diagnosed officially as severely autistic. because there are the other problems ie the physical ones which might point to something else it sounds like they are leaving the autistic diagnosis for last, has he been tested for dyspraxia? as that can cause clumsiness and can be linked with autism. as he is under quite a few medical ppl could you not ask a different person to refer him to an autistic specialist like a psychologist, not sure how they work it out nowadays Smile
the listening we had a problem as matt could hear adverts coming on telly even when on low but we could shout his name and he might as well have been deaf (bit like having a teenager at 3 lol) he was even sent for tests for his hearing before they checked into autism but it wasnt as well discussed then.

RE: Eeek i just dnt know??
Tbh hun the paed hasnt sent him for any tests for a diagnosis as such realy.
All shes ever sent him for is hearing test (which found glue ear), Ocupational therapy (re hes feet), Alder hay (for hes testicals and heart - testicals are fine), Physiotherapy, Continece nurse and SALT.
The doctor dealing with hes hearing issues sent him for the sleep apneoa test as i stated i had on several occasions notice Samuel stop breathing in hes sleep, aswel as him snoring VERY loudly!.
& in all honesty i think im going round and round in circles, and getting no closer to a diagnosis at all.
Samuel isnt currently Statemented but does have a Individual learning programme or somthing at school.. and school again dont seem to be doing much either. (I dont even know if theres a chance Sam will stay there and move up into reception this time and always be a year behind or wether he will be going to a specail needs school??)
I know Learning difficulties/Behavioural problems & Speach delays are all disabilitys in them selves but all i want is an over all diagnosis so i can look into it more and learn to deal with it alot better as the stress is also coming out on my daughter. She gets soo frustrated an worked up with Sams behaviours and its hard to explain to her as shes only2. So she just trys to copy him with her temper tantrums etc which just means DOUBLE TROUBLE! Ekkkkkkkkkkkkk

RE: Eeek i just dnt know??
ahh yes i have heard of children doing that (copying older siblings). i remember the lady at the cdc talking to another mother about 'learned behaviour' and she was saying that that is harder to straighten out than that of the child with the behavioural difficulties! we're struggling too to get to the bottom of euans problems, i think the thing that frustrates me the most is like you...all the waiting! i feel like they just leave us to get on with it in the hope that one day they will all of a sudden grow out of it and everything will be fine....i'd like to know how often that happens Smile

RE: Eeek i just dnt know??
Exactly lucy..
I do think deep down our Paed knows but doesnt actualy want to be the 1 who does the diagnosis..
I will have a look up online (asd & dispraxia) what you and corinne mentioned as it may well be that my lil lad hasnt actualy got autism but somthing quite similar? and if i do find anything that i think may relate to hes disabilitys i will take a print out with me i think Smile
As for my DD it may well be terrible twos but she dusnt half copy sams nawtyness lol, but think she just does it to annoy me most of the time haha! (Shes just been accepted as a model and were going for her 1st photoshoot on Friday so heres hoping she dusnt play up then lol) Xxxxx

RE: Eeek i just dnt know??
from what you have said over the weeks Lea89 i do think it sounds like autism what i was saying is it sounds like its more than "just" autism and if he has dyspraxia or other things these will need to be looked at to give him a good a start in life as possible. its reading on this thread that it looks like matt might have adhd as well but when matt was diagnosed i hadnt heard of these things and i think it was he has autism dont need to look any further but explains why he is soooo hyperactive and a few other things but i not going to do anything now he coming up to 17 but its good to know for myself why he is so different to other autistic ppl.
