Statement - what help can we expect?
cheapsensorytoys
Hi all. I've got a question about the Statement that children can get once they attend school. We understand that different local authorities etc vary, but I'm trying to get a grip on what we potentially could expect in terms of help.

Our son will be 5 this year. He has been diagnosed with ADHD and developmental delay, and has considerable behavioural problems including anger, aggression to other children, real trouble with emotional regulation, and impulsivity. He also has a lot of anxiety around learning (amongst other things) which often leads to the anger etc. He is currently getting one-on-one help at nursery.

So with that brief description, can anyone give me an idea of the kind of help we might receive? I understand again that it all varies, but if you've got a child with similar issues, how much help do they get?

I'm not looking for exact answers, just trying to get some idea of what we might expect!

Many thanks everyone!

My son is 5 and in full time school, he has autism, communication difficulties, anger, physical, toileting issues etc, he gets 15 hrs a week of extra help in school, he gets his 1-1 every morning and to be honrest it works really well for us, we have just gone through his annual review for his statement and they are going to try for an extra 5 hrs to get him through lunchtimes without numerous fights. Best of luck
