I have a reply about Connors statement saying it has been refused. The school SENCO is not happy about the decision (neither am I) so I have a meeting with her tomorrow morning so she can talk me through her plan of action.

Oh no!!!!
Good luck with the meeting and hopefully the senco will rise to the challenge ahead.
Did they offer any reasons for refusal?
May i also urge you to now contact IPSEA who are an independent charity specialising in educational law who will help you fight this free!

Unlike parent partnership IPSEA are an independent organisation who truly go out to ensure that the childs needs are the main priority and not cost.
Some people swear by parent partnerships but sadly ive heard to many cases of them issuing biased advice
So really please do call IPSEA and ask them for help.

My son had problems from day 1 at school, none of his schools would help and felt a statement was not required. Eventually just before he was due to start middle school (3 tier system in our county) we threatened to take him out of school. We found the charity Cerebra and they suggested we try a local special needs school - we went to see the head master and he agreed that his school was for our son, we used letters from Cerebra and his hospital and GP and after 3 panel meetings he was given his place at the school. As all special school children need a statement he was statemented as soon as he arrived. Our method was unorthodox but it worked. He is a much happier boy now that he has the right input. This was all done, by the way, without a formal diagnosis of his condition (which we knew deep down but could not prove). So keep at it and if you think a special needs school might be the answer go for it whichever works - dont give up - we had tonnes of setbacks but never accepted them. Take care all the best xx

She had his consultant at the school today to write another report. She is also getting the Ed psych to come in and see him - she has tried before but in our area they say they don't need to come out!! But she is not accepting this. She is also getting his teacher to write up lots of reports etc. I have been told she hopes to have all the info to be resubmitted by the Oct half term so fingers crossed.

She was really angry that they refused without even seeing him, she said how can they make that decision sitting at a desk without even seeing the child. The refusal was made within 3 weeks of the request too!!
