STATEMENT ADVICE NEEDED PLSSSS
cheapsensorytoys
Hi everyone

i just needed some advice on a certain issue if poss , i will describe breifley below
my son 3 years we applied him to be in mainstream nursery and applied for a statement , he got the statement of 15 hours , but was told apply for 15 by the child pschycologist thingy....as its hard to add more and easier to reduce hours if needed,

this was given in september , in the meantime while they are interviewing a teaching assistant for him , my hubby has been taking him in every tue and wed for 1 and a half hours as planned till the 121 support kicks in , they dont ween him off just my hubby with him for the full time .......and hes back is hurting poor hubby....

now ive been told they are waiting for crb check on the 121's

we had a meeting 2 weeks ago the statement officer and a women from the physical and sensory disabled team was there as to see the progress of what is happening and how my son is getting on....

we told them we would like my son to do afternoons due to he severe constipation problem as some times hes up through the night therefore sleeps in the morning and can be irritable throughout day and very weak,
but they said no sorry you cant change it!! the assistant only can work mornings!! cannot do afternoons

then we was told we have to bring him in 5 mornings at 8.30 till 11.30 same time as the rest of children
i stated due to the fact of my sons medical history etc etc problems he will not manage 5 mornings at that time !! and the statement officer said he has to do that time and 5 mornings as the full 15 hours!!

since all this i came away feeling very upset

and after that actual week my son ended up in hospital for 3 days due to the problems he gets on a drip and was very poorly ..he is still recovering

i spoke to ipsea about this they asked me to look in the statement under section 3 which does not state anywhere about the time and days he has to go......

so she said the are in the wrong??? im now confused and really really dont know what to do i would really really love some advice as to what to do

i will be honest but the nursery does not really want my son there as to other things mentioned and you can tell by the attitude !!

what shall i do?

Ipsea are actually pretty much the same as parent partnership but more indipendant (so less bias I would of thought....) If they have advised you that the school are in the wrong I would go back to the school and inform them of the advise you have received and that if the person they propose to employ cannot do afternoons then can't they find someone else? Because surely its your right as a parent to choose!? X

thank u guys

i spoke to parent partner ship ....i felt like they were useless really and lucy yes you are right a bit bias ...well they are paid by the council....

also found out that on my sons statement its not really detailed much as to what support he will get from therapy services so ipsea have advised me to apeal against it, which they have helped me....

im glad i called them as i would have never known!!

but i wanted to know if anyone has had a statement for there child and not used the full hours?
or even better still i really dont like this nursery i dont want to send him back so if anyone has had any experience in this pls pls help!!! i have no confidence in this nursery at all
