Hello everyone, iam after any help on school, my son robbie who as c.p is meant to start full time school next wk, ive asked if i can sit in the back of class room for the first few days as robbie as only ever gone to nursery for 2hr once a wk, most days robbie wasn't well, and if he went and he wasn't good they would ring us to fetch him home, I wanted to sit in the back ground and just watch to see how they was with robbie and how robbie was with school, it was for my sake as much as robbies, I also asked if robbie could start by doing a few hour each day and then build up, as i know it is to much for him all day everyday. Ive been told that NO i can not be in the class room as some of the staff may find it uncomfortable and also the other children may not like it, and NO robbie can not do less hours at start , its full time straight away. I explained that nobody would no i was there i didn't want to butt in, i just needed to see what was what, they said i could sit in reception and someone would let me know how robbie was doing then i could go. I dont think iam wrong for asking what ive asked and robbie will just not go full stop. Its a big thing to me and you read so much sh** what goes on i need to feel happy with where robbie is and who with, As anybody got any advice that can help please?

id be tempted to ask if they have something to hide if this is the case who was it you asked teacher/headteacher?

i can slightly understand them not wanting you in the room but i can also see your point entirely about why you do want to be in the room. As for easing him in not full time at start i dont think thats unreasonable at all! at the end of the day, its whats best for him, dont they usually ease childern in anyway when its their first time fulltime? even when emily started from nursery to reception, the firt week was mornings, the second week afternoons and then they went full time. I would try speaking to the head maybe? see what her views are, or the senco!?

Will Robbie be going to a mainstream school or a special school.
Ben goes to a special school and i can't fault it in any way. He started full time on friday going straight into 5 full days. The school have said that if we feel that Ben isn;t coping with it then we can reduce it.
Have you spoken to teh head teacher

A way into the classroom would be to offer the class teacher some help, reading playing ect. In a reception class they always need an extra pair of hands. My daughter has poor language so by being in the class once or twice a week gives me an insight as to what goes on and her class friends names so i can chat to her more about her day at school.
