Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

home tutor Question
cheapsensorytoys
hello my daughter is Tutored at home due to being too ill for school. the start of the new term is now in full swing and there have been some changes to her tutors time table , instead of just one tutor she now has three to cope with, my concern is that the tutor she has to teach her science we feel is being very insensitive Tashi is 15 she is very under weight due to her medical conditions and over the past two days they have been doing health and nutrition it has mad Tashi feel very uncomfortable as all her tutor has been on about is being under weight and anorexia and being a size zero. Tashi knows she is medically under weight and needs to put on weight but it dose not stop her feeling she is being put on we are waiting for a appointment for GOSH to have more tests done , but how do i tackle this very sensitive subject with out upsetting my daughter more ? thank you for your time

Try and reassue her that the teacher isn't being personal to her and maybe try having a word withthe teacher to see if they are aware how its making her feel. It might reassure her more if its not just coming from you. Maybe ask him to tackle the opposite about being overweight Blush weight is a sensitive subject however angle it comes from Smile hope you figure it out xx
