My husband and I are experienced teachers of pupils with severe, complex and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

We are considering setting up a business that allows families with disabled children to holiday abroad TOGETHER; where parents can relax and disabled children and their siblings can be equally catered for.

I'd love to have some feedback on the type of holidays abroad that are available for familiies with disabled children.

Are you able to take your child with you on an overseas holiday and if so are their needs catered for?

Have you ever come across a Children club at a hotel for children with learning difficulties and if so to what extend did it cater for their specific needs?

Would you like to take your disabled child with you if you knew that there was a Children club which provided suitable, inspiring experiences for them?

If this were all possible, how much would you expect to pay?

I would say that we also need facilities in the Uk and Ireland, not everyone can fly even if they want to and from what I have seen there is very little provision for disabled Children at family holiday parks or resorts anywhere

What kind of service would you like from a holiday in the UK/Ireland which catered for your whole family and how much would you expect to pay?

I would like to know that the people caring or providing activities for my disabled child were firstly qualified and experienced to do so, that they were not minimum wage carers just filling-in until something better came along and that they would have enough time without being overloaded caring for 10 or 12 other children too.
I dont mind paying for one to one care and support if that's what is needed and paying slightly above the going rate for agency staff would be acceptable.

hello i have just come back with my children my eldest has complex learning difficulties. there isant much i would say over in teneriffe. we went to a water park and he had to sit in a thing its like a raft for the lazy river but he kept falling through the hole and he couldnt understand me tryin to get him to sit up. he was crying all the way through it.also they was a bit funny with my son when he played up not very nice. i think there should be more for children with disabilites and special needs. i would be intrested in the holiday scheame if u ever set one up. but i think there should be more specialied people who understand the children problems and make activities for them that they can do and understand and make the holiday fun.
