Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

schools and feeding tubes
cheapsensorytoys
hey all,

i was wondering how your lil ones who are tube fed get on at school and if they go to mainstream or a special school??

i'm worried for when charlie starts school next year, because he has to have all his fluids through his tube and his meds throughout the day how they would deal with this?? and if other children would notice he was 'different'?

charlies at a special nursery at the min but he only does 2 mornings and i give him his fluids when he gets up before he goes at 9 and hes back for 12 so i give him more when he is back so no body sees him bein fed there but i just worry about when they do Sad

i know im over reacting but i hate the not knowing Sad

bec n charlie <3

Heart my 2 boys so much

hi, my son is tube fed at school he has all the feeds and medication that is needed during the day, he is at special school and there are nursing staff there to deal with this. he has been to mainstream nursery and he had 1-1 and all his feeding needs were met, it is difficult to attend any nursery/school setting without it involving a feed. the children at alexs mainstream nursery were very accepting of his feeding tube and once a few questions were answered they lost interest. alex was fed whilst the other children ate lunch at the same table as his peers so he wasnt excluded from this social time.

I never thought it would happen to me.

Heya. Euans in mainstream with full time 1:1. He has all his meds at school etc they've been fab. There are currently 3 staff trained to use his button and 2 at a time do his meds and sign them off. He loves it his friends have been great about his button they dont see him as any different xxx
