ipad for special needs?

I've applied for funding through one charity and they would want his school to purchase it and they will reimburse them. Don't think I'll be able to do it that way - can't see them agreeing to pay out like that for one item to be used by only one child! Also not sure if he'd get to use it enough in class for what I'd want him to do (he'd need someone sitting with him helping him get his hand into a 'pointing' motion). I'd also be worried about it getting broken, theres a couple of autistic Children in his class who can get a bit overexcited, and I don't know what happens if it gets broken. I need to look at other funding methods I think, where it can come home with him (or be used at home only) Raising the awareness of encephalitis, one baby step at a time.....
