Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Grant for holiday? (a bit out of the ordinary!)
cheapsensorytoys
Hi everyone! First post, so please be extra kind! I have 2 disabled sons - eldest (18) has Aspergers & other problems, youngest is Autistic Spectrum and extremely anxious about everything - so much so that he will only leave the house very occasionally with me (he is 13). We could really really do with a holiday, but all efforts to get youngest to agree to going on one have failed - until now. He really wants to go to Norway & see the Northern Lights, but there is no way I could afford something like that - does anyone have any ideas of grants available for something like that? We had a computer from Family Fund this year already.

Thanks lovely people

the best help i can offer is someone else's Big Grin http://www.parentsofdisabledchildren.co....-6309.html there are quite a few there to try out, not tried any of them so dont know how much they would help with but its worth a go

There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Hiya. Merlons magic wand covers all merkin attractions. For something like the northern lights have you tried family fund? They do Thomas cook vouchers and first time applications tend to get more. Theirs no specific amount they give as its a charity and depends on what funding they have available. Also, something like that you might not cover the entire cost with them but you could fundraise or save if possible to cover the cost of the extra. Also just to note, if your approved, you can apply to family fund every 12 months. For more info of what they fund I'd take a look at their website Smile hope that helps some xxx
