family fund - carpets?
cheapsensorytoys
Has anyone ever used the family fund for a new carpet, is it something they can fund? If so, I'm assuming its vouchers or something, which shop for please?
Our hallway carpet has had it, due to the constant use of a wheelchair over it, often with muddy wheels Sad since we've had the doorways widened, it doesn't fit properly either.
If not, does anyone know of any other places that may help towards the cost of this?
And finally....(I feel like a newsreader!) any tips to help it getting so bad in future? Someone has suggested laminate, which I love, but obviously need good quality in a high traffic area which could get expensive! I was just going to get one of those plastic runners but have been told the wheelchair will have it curling up at the sides and a possible trip hazard?

I found an old thread which slharris posted with a list of things covered and in this list Floor coverings seem to be included Smile

Also as a consideration just wondered if possibly a community care grant might cover this?

Don't think community care grant would cover it sadly (I think I've looked into those before, for fencing due to the stupid neighbours next door!) but thanks for the links. FF isn't due till early next year but was just thinking ahead!

Floradancinggirl, Thinking about asking for the same, just, if you didn't give them quotes, how did they know how much to give you, or have they given you a budget and said, this is what you can spend.

Also Matts Mum, I wouldn't do laminate, the wheelchair will rip it apart in a matter of 2-3yrs and you'll be doing it again. For high traffic areas, I would recomend either hardwood flooring or tiles, our main access through our kitchen we have put wood effect tiles. With the aim we won't have to replace them Smile I have hardwood online prices if you would like them, all you would need is someone to lay it. (May or may not be an option for you) As for other funding, I've looked, almost impossible.
