Any advice on this matter would be very helpful, Last year february i was advised to put in a medical priority form as my housing situation was and still is a problem for my ds2 who has autism development delay and hypermobility.I put in the form and the medical advisor looked at it .I received a letter which said they put my priority up to a band c which is not very good but there was nothing i could do.Since then we have been seeing OT and an OT from social services who is the best and they referred our case to the welfare panel last march who werent very helpful. So fast forward to january 2012 and we are going through the same problems ds2 is not sleeping we have tried everything known to man but still no luck except he will be 4 in a month and a bit and i cant believe the last time i had a real nights sleep was nearly 4 years ago.Although he has been statemented and he is in a special school which has done wonders for his speech and he can say some things, he is trying to communicate his needs which is great because although speech therapy one a week for 2 years was good being at this autistic school has done wonders for him in 6 months he is labelling things and using pecs and sentence strips sometimes words like i want thomas and he is showing an interest in things which i am so excited about(SORRY of topic but i never thought he would be where he is im so proud). So anyway before my ds2 was born the council put me in a private rented property which at the time was fine but when ds2 was born and his safety due to his understanding and danger awareness became an issue i tried to get some help to find a suitable property which all the proffessionals agreed with and supported,The medical advisor upped my band but that was it as far as i knew. But the OT from social services called me the other day as she has worked with us since then and told me that last february when i sent in the form that after looking at the evidence i sent in the medical advisor had recomended that the council should give me a 3 bedroom ground floor property with a garden and we should have a higher priority this was february 2011 he suggested this.I am fuming what is the point of the medical advisor if they ignore his advice since then i have gone another year only sleeping for 3 hours a night if i am lucky my ds2 has burnt himself trying to get into the oven because he likes the light we tried numerous oven locks which melt off because the oven heats up and the actual oven front gets hot the place is impossible to make safe.Even the safety officer who came apologised and said she couldnt make it safe she wrote a report which i gave to the council as evidence.I just dont understand what the point of consulting a medical advisor if you are going to ignore what he says. And i feel they have continued to put my child in danger .We were given funding for a safespace but for some reason the council didnt do the paperwork to get it ordered we were granted it in june but it wasnt dealt with until november and the safespace wont be ready until mid february but now i am told they will have to hold onto it as my landlord is not happy that the london housing allowance is less than he expects so i will have to move out at the end of february so we we be officially homeless then.Sorry for ranting on but is it right for the council to ignore the medical advisors advice and is there anyway i can request the paperwork to find out why they didnt agree should i contact the CAB or a solicitor i really dont know what to do.The OT from social services says its on file and she is going to try and go back to the welfare panel as since all of these problems i have been diagnosed with depression i am on medication and have been reffered to counciling and my sons issues have not changed and we have tried everything they recomended please help...... This is so sad, I have been in same situation I have been on our council list 6 years. I live in a 2 bed terraces house with extremely steep stairs and goes straight on to street. My son has difficult to control epilepsy ( 3 types of seizures) hypermobility, autism, adhd. he also only sleeps a few hours but shares his room with his brother meaning we are all short of sleep, stairs are that narrow that I struggle carrying him up and down.We also went through all the same had assesments etc. My house isn't adaptable and they provided council with list of what I need. I had reports from health visitor etc. I however have finally had good news and been given a suitable property. I wrote to the local mp with photocopies of everthing and also.constantly badgered the council( think they got sick of seeing me) think your mp maybe help.though worth a try. Good luck x

Can your OT get you a copy of the recommendations made if its on file? Then what I'd do is book an appointment in your local housing office and go armed with it. Seek advice from shelter as they are fabulous when it comes to the legal side, they should be able to tell you where you stand with regard to becoming homeless (you can be homeless within a home). What pain though when this could of all been sorted by now
