You can get rehoused and I believe that financial restrictions should by now be removed in all English councils (there used to be a profit cap where if the sale would bring in a certain ammount you were suspended from the list)
Contact a housing advice centre or law centre as there really are a lot of schemes available to keep you in your current house, from mortgage rescue, deferring payments, equity release etc but get specialist advice, not just the CAB unless it is a housing unit like they have in Liverpool. If you like, tel me who your council is and I'll find who can help? Above al try not to get too stressed by it all, everything takes time and nobody will just turn up expecting you to move. |

thankyou fatherjack
our council is dudley council (one of the worst councilslol) i think ive had enough of having our own house etc and plus i need a bit money because we go around the county for therapy for our son and its not cheap so at least if we sold the house if we got bit spare we can keep for our sons therapy etc because its a nightmare trying to get help and funding. thank you once again |

http://www.birminghamlawcentre.org.uk/pu...eaflet.pdf
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice...ing_office http://www.dudleyathome.org.uk/Data/ASPPages/1/131.aspx http://www.dudley.gov.uk/index.asp?pgid=47732 http://www.dudley.gov.uk/housing/private...homeowners OK, so there's a lot of information and help available. I would contact the Birmingham law centre first as see what they can do to help they do have a great reputation and definately cover the Dudley area. Shelter can help and usually hold local surgeries as well...... the rest is for your peace of mind ![]() If you start hitting brick walls or the council start being awkward then email a formal complaint to their chief executive, they will get things moving provided you have filled forms in etc. |

i had my own house three bed mid terrace very steep stairs i felt that in time it would be more difficult to get my son upstairs, also we had very large steps at the front door, getting the wheelchair in and out was a nightmare! my hubbys job was underthreat and the worry financially was putting a strain on us. i felt we would be better off in council property? i applied to go on the council housing list filled in an application form and was put into band 6 the lowest band! i then filled in a medical application based on my sons disability and needs (he has quad cp) this was assessed and i was moved upto band 2. the advantage of having a medical assessment means that you can bid for properties that are adapted for disabilities, you can bid for property that has not been adapted but so can every one else. i was told i could not put my house up for sale because i would be seen as making myself intentionally homeless! i began to look at property available and after 3 months saw and bidded for a house i felt suited our needs amazed we got it!! the downside was i then had to put my house up for sale pay the mortgage and the rent on my new house, i accepted the first reduced offer on my house and moved in my new council home. iam a lot more relaxed financially not worried if my hubby loses his job because i wont be made homeless and i have a large garden and off road parking from my experience its the best thing that we have done!!
I never thought it would happen to me. |
