Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Well we're home! And what an amazing AMAZING place it is! 2 days with a physio and OT who's attention is solely focussed on Matthew.
Most of the exercises and things they were saying is exactly like his NHS physio is doing, which is nice, as it means everyone is in the same place. I've got loads of tips on how to work things at home and how to fit it into the daily routine.
We learnt that Matthew can actually do more than we thought - just little things I never realised he was capable of, and that just holding him in a slightly different way enables him to do them - he can lift his foot up onto a step for one thing!
Also found out he has issues I didn't realise, they believe he has a sensory disorder which I'm so ashamed of never realising - but it explains so much about the random hysterical screaming amongst other things.
Looking forward to showing his dvd to physio and school teachers!

That's lovely news.....I thought you would love it! You have to go to realise how fab the place and staff are. Don't worry that's were they picked up my little girls sensory issues, I just thought it was the autism until they said!!!!

Things can be hard on occasions but well worth it!Heart
