Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Blue badge

i sent an e-mail to my local council about the blue badge as Ben only gets low rate moblity, and was told that Each Blue Badge application is assessed according to the requirements of the person for whom it is intended and have been told to apply for one.
They did say it would help if i could get some supporting edvience so might get my GP or ben's support worker to write a letter.

Hi, our daughter gets low rate on mobility but has been awarded a blue badge about a yr ago. She has Autism and Crohns Disease......not sure if she was awarded because of the Autism or Crohns or because of both!!!!
It is a really big help for us as when she has a meltdown our car is nearby and don't have to carry her across a busy car park and also due to very loose stools we are able to get her back to the car faster.
I filled in the form and then they wrote to our GP asking for evidence, we had a decision within 10 days. Good Luck.

Things can be hard on occasions but well worth it!Heart

My daughter got hers when she was three months old, I assume the application was supported by the GP. If I had listened to everyone else I would never have applied as they said it was pointless. No one was more shocked than me when it arrived. You never know unless you try.
