Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Benefit if husband loses job
cheapsensorytoys
Hi, I have 2 children with fragile x, we get middle for care and low for mobility although CAHMS are helping with form to try to get it on to high for both because of eldest behaviour, we don't get anything for the youngest whose 2 1/2 although it's gone to tribunal. My husband works for police although he's been told not for much longer as it's either redundancy or the section he works for is going to be privatised so it's not looking good at moment, if he loses his job which looks very likely does anybody know what we would be entitled to if anything, we are buying our house and are very worried that we are going to lose it so would appreciate any info anybody has. x

I have 5 lovely children and even though it's stressfull at time's I love having a big family

Although it takes some juggling you can put your mind at rest somewhat if you use the benefit calculator to show what you will get....... you will never be as well-off financially as when working but there are benefits available to claim that can help get you all through and keep the roof over your heads too Smile

we rent our house so i cant really help on the owning side but fatherjack is the resident housing expert Tongue
this is the benefit checker that fatherjack mentioned, its worth putting in info as if your hubby isnt working rather than how it is now to get an idea.

There comes a point in your life when you realize:Who matters,Who never did,Who won't anymore...And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Will your husband be likely to recieve a redundancy pay off as this would impact on some benefits for a while Sad
