Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Hi, Can anyone help on the following.I have a daughter with special needs who is epileptic and has developmental delay. Can I know what help parents can get if they are full time working with a disabled kid. My kid till now was supervised by my mother in law after the school and in the mornings as she stays with us. But now she is getting older and my daughter is getting bigger for us to keep managing like this. My daughter constantly needs attendence for personal care and behavioural needs.
Thanks, Vidushi

We have an organisation in our area called DCATCH (Disabled childrens access to childcare) which help parents in this same situation, they helped us to access preschool for our daughter. Maybe there is something similar in your area?

There may well be help in your area for you and your daughter to access quite easily. In some places things can take a long time so it's best if we know where you are in the UK and we'll all put our heads together to see who you need to talk to locally to get the ball rolling ok?
We dont need your address, just the local authority area.
Welcome by the way, nice to see more new members Smile
