Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Would I be able to start working without it affecting my Carer's Allowance?
cheapsensorytoys
Hello everyone, I'm thinking about going back to work for a few hours when our son starts nursery. He's 3 in April so as of September he will be doing 15 hours a week. He may start doing a few hours before then if places become available (He's been accepted at a special nursery but they are short on places).

If all goes to plan I would like to return to work but i'm worried about how it would affect our income. Also, If i did it would only be part time (the hours our son is at nursery).

I know there are places/people that are specifically designed to help in these cases but at the moment it's only a thought so I wondered if anyone is/has been in a similar situation?

Thanks for reading, any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Sometimes working less hours can really impact on many benefits but it all depends.
What benefits are you or you partner currently in receipt of?
