Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

when to apply for mobility.
cheapsensorytoys
ok so my son wont be 3 until december but i was wondering when to apply do i wait until he reaches his 3rd birthday, or do i apply before in assumption that they will only start paying the mobility component from his 3rd birthday, i know its a way off yet but i like to be prepared, he will not be walking at all at his 3rd birthday, he cant sit up yet. i have a friend who applied a month before her little ones 3rd birthday and the mobility element wasnt awarded, they told her it was because she didnt meet the crieteria but didnt say it was because she was under 3, so what do you think, what did you do?
thanks in advance

You can apply around about 3-4 months before the third birthday.
Euans was awarded 2 months before his birthday so i would look to claim in about September/October if i were you.
Call them middle of September and ask them to send the forms out.

Do remember it will be a brand new claim even on the care Smile

thats fine, im more than confident our care rate wont be changed, luckily for jacob, unluckily for me most of his more important care is done at night which makes getting higher rate care fairly easy. (or has done both times ive applied lol) its a pain though as i have only just renewed the care award! Confused
