9 1/2 weeks on and still waiting for DLA
cheapsensorytoys
Hi there, just a quick note. Have been waiting for DLA to go through now for 9 1/2 weeks for our daughter Chiara. Received a letter today saying i'm in charge of all her financial stuff etc etc and all my legal obligations etc etc. We haven't even receive an award letter yet?! confused.com, when are we likely to hear from them, as they were talking in the letter like she has been awarded it, but she hasn't yet. Also, bit worried, as when we filled the forms out, we filled it out for worst day, and had not had the written diagnosis. Her actual diagnosis is so much worse than what diagnosis we put in her form, will this matter or affect the claim??! bit worried now :o( and confused by it all lol. Any help would be much appreciated :o) xx

Hello, have you rang them up and explained you didn't put actual diagnosis in. Seems strange they would send you a letter stating you will be in charge of finances but no award letter yet. The official wait is 12 weeks before you hear anything if it's straight forward claim it's usually quicker. We had to wait 14 weeks as they needed to get in contact with all of Matt's doctors xx

I have spoken to them about the diagnosis and they said not to worry as it's more the medical reports for the diagnosis they take notice of and they also said that the delay was because Chiara specialist had not sent the report off straight away and they had been waiting 4 weeks to receive that?! Annoying!! but they did not tell me how long it would take after receiving reports. That's what i thought, it was strange to not have received an award letter but receive the finances letter instead. Very strange, as they have only asked for reports from one of Chiaras specialists and not all of them :-( bit confused by it all to be honest, as this is the first time we have claimed. thanks for the response xxx

Hi not sure if the finance letter is a new thing. I claim DLA for two of my children and have never had a finance letter so cant comment. The waiting can vary my only advice would be to keep ringing them for updates and chase the reports they are still waiting for yourself x
