Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Too late to appeal? Long post!
cheapsensorytoys
Hi ladies ( and gentlemen) just wanting your advice as like so many others I have no idea about the while DLA system its complex and it makes my head hurt!
Sorry for such a long post just want to make it clearer (may fail though!)

Basically in June this year I was awarded middle rate care and lower mobility for my son, I appealed and in July was then awarded the higher rate care as we are up several times a night with him.

However I had no idea how the mobility bit worked and so I left as it was however I recently joined a group of mums with children with similar problems to my son, as one of them was saying she gets higher rate mobility.
We found out that my sons behaviour is identical to her sons, the running off, putting self in danger, refusing to walk, loud noises scaring him, things distracting his attention so much that he walks into things/roads, disruptive/violent behaviour, and often requires parent to sto them running off so physically holding them or giving constant verbal instructions, also very unpredictable behaviour especially when linked with loud noises.

So that makes me wonder now whether I should have been entitled to the higher, or rather he should have, but as I say I had no idea what to put on the form or anything.

I know on the appeal letter it said I could appeal further within one month which has now passed.

Do you think it would be worth getting intouch with them?
Will they do it do you think?
Also I dont want to risk the decision we already have for him its just I do feel that he is fitting the criteria!
Argggh so confusing!

Thanks for reading if you still are!
