We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Query re Mobility renewel letter
cheapsensorytoys
If the letter for the mobility component of DLA has no 'til' date does that that mean it is a life time award?

The letter just states the date the allowance runs from but no other date. Usually it is for 2 years and then you renew but this one doesn't say when it runs out?

has it been added to the care component? as in did u put a claim for mobility in after you were already awarded care dla? if so it will run to the date of the care as they go together. if you get it for life it will say either for life or mine says indefinitely on his paperwork when he reached 16 even though i still have to keep reapplying when they send out the forms which is a pain

Hi, this is for my husband.

My son gets high rate care and high rate mobility. When his letter arrives it always states the date it runs till. Usually, every 2 years it needs renewing.

My husband gets low rate care and high rate mobility. He just had it renewed. The letter came today but it does not say when the award runs out.
We wondered if this means he has now been granted a life time award.
Or maybe the new government have something sneaky in mind? 9

i dont know, it is usually a fight for a lot of ppl to get it for life ( i was lucky as got it from day one for mobility well lucky i didnt have to fight not lucky he is disabled Big Grin) it might be worth giving them a ring asking when it runs to as i dont think you would be able to get a mobility vehicle without and end date as they need at least 12 months on the award.
