Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Put in claim for mobility, was turned down.
So we appealed and just rang to find they have changed decesion and gave Sam Lower Rate Mobility!.. Smile

I was expecting them to turn us down again and need to go to tribunal but they havnt..

Will they now need to back date us from the date we put in claim (31st jan) or date we appealed (10th march)

Its deffo worth the apeal hun,if you feel ur child should be on more then deffo appeal!
I feel sam should have been given higher rate mobility in some sences but i then think and am gratefull that he can walk, so im happy with the decesion of getting lower rate as its a better decesion then they offered us in the begining!

Does jack require night time care? If so how many times a night for how long? (if he doesnt require night care then you wont qualify for higher rate care)
Also, i just rang to appeal my decesion, and they just asked why i thought the decesion was wrong and asked if i could supply any more info what would help them to make a decesion.. like how far he could actulay walk before complaining about pain/discomfort etc... this is then they made the decesion to give him lower rate mobility!

Does anyone know what other benefits he may be entitled to now hs on lower rate mob, (Blue badge etc) or would you only qualify for these bein on high rate? just asking as my gran just told me put in for a badge? and i didnt think i could apply for anything?
