Mobility allowance advice
cheapsensorytoys
i got awarded higher rate for my daughter at the begining of june this year, DLA have sent me out the full claim pack again as i inquired about the mobility componant. I dont know if i should fill it in now and send it away or wait till closer to her 3rd birthday in december. does anyone know?

Also is there any exceptions for recieveing it early as my car insurance has just rocketed after an accident i had last year and now i can afford to keep car. I cant afford to buy a second hand 1 and dont want to if there is anyway to get the mobility componant early.

No chance at all in regards to recieving mobility early im afraid Blush
In regards to applying for mobility i would say do this around August/September but remember you can also complete the form online and the benefit of doing this is that you can save the application and come back to it as needed and also edit it later as well if you want to reword something or add further detail.
Also in the meantime to make it an easier and more straight forward process of applying i would suggest asking your daughters doctors or consultants to write some letters explaining the lack of mobility/problems with mobility and giving there oppions on mobility now.
You would then be able to send these off with the application and it would speed up the whole process and make it more detailed.
Remember the DLA decesion makers dont know your daughter so its upto you to create the picture for them and do so in as much detail as possible and if you need any assistance completing the form just ask Smile
Nothing better for entertainment than a good dla form Big Grin

Quite right Smile
Where possible though try to use the extra time to get all the information ready and at hand.
The leg work parents can do does speed them up.
What takes us a day takes them a week as if we need a letter we phone and get it sent and we have it in a few days.
But no they write and it takes weeks Blush
