Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

cold weather payment
cheapsensorytoys
jobcentres way of working things out boggles me, just rang them to ask about cold weather payments for my 5 yr old who i recieve high rate care for they said that giving cwp to disabled was different to giving to those with children under 5. apparently they print a list off of everyone disabled thats entitled then work through the list so it takes alot longer to recieve payment. where as its automaticly paid to those with children under 5. ive gone through £60 in gas this week already and its not getting warmer think they should apply the same sytem to everyone. sorry about the rant x

my other half got made redundant two weeks ago and we're waiting for our Income Support claim to go through. Last time we claimed Income support, it used to take ages to get our CWP's through, my daughter is 9 and we claim DLA for her. Could really use those cold weather payments now, we've been putting £30 - £40 a week on our gas meter over the past few weeks! tota;lly get where you're coming from though, really isn't fair how they work things out sometimes. x

i just don't see why it takes so long i know people down the street that keep having Children and never worked a day in there lifes and they have been recieving cwp as they have children under 5. and they dont even use it for what its meant for they use it to go out. i just think the disabled are vulnerable and they should recieve theres just as quick x

My son is on high rate care & mobility and Jobcentre just told us we r not entitled to it. Which frankly i think is unfair. I spend £40 a week on heating just to make sure Matt doesn't get cold & end up in hospital x
