Child Trust Fund Extra Payments For Disabled Children
cheapsensorytoys
Starting from April 2010, the government will make extra payments into the Child Trust Fund accounts of disabled children. In order to qualify for an additional payment your child must have been in receipt of Disability Living Allowance (DLA) at some point during the previous year. The extra payment will be £100 per year, or £200 per year if your child gets the care component of DLA at the highest rate.

The government expects to automatically identify those children who have both DLA and a child trust fund and will make a payment directly into each child’s account. Parents will receive a letter telling them once a payment has been made.

So this is some good news for disabled children who will have some more money added to there accounts.

Just thinking aloud on this one and was wondering with this does it place more pressure on you as a parent to pay extra into a siblings account to make up for this and make it "Feel Fair"

is this being backdated to all children?
Think I would feel kind of obligated into topping up the diva's account too!

Hmmm...I'm kind of in the same mindframe! My eldest missed out on the CTF, I started her a savings account at the same time as I opened her brothers CTF and add the same to it each month, as I do with their younger sisters CTF. Of course, if Matthew gets this extra money, her savings will be even lower, poor kid!
I'd like to add to hers, but theres no way I can afford to make it the same amount Sad

Well this is the thing affording to make it the same will be tough for many.
On top of the other things like for example when our Euan turns 16 he will get his DLA and mobility as well so will get nearly £500 a month money to himself?
Seems unfair on the others but from an adult point of view i would rather be healthy without the worry but Children dont see it like that do they?
