Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education,acess to services,respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

There is a very useful benefit checker on the thread linked below ;

http://www.parentsofdisabledchildren.co....t-521.html

It really is worth taking the few minutes to run the calculations and see what you may be entitled to claim as life is hard enough without struggling more than you have to money-wise Smile
Apart from housing benefit you should be entitled to council tax benefit...... they are usually dealt with on the same council form and can also be backdated a certain ammount so check what you may be entitled to and see what can be claimed quickly Smile

i am also on income support, tax creds ad rent paid, Sam gets meduim care DLA which entitles me to carers allowence, you should apply i think things are going get tight with the goverment so apply while you still can, my income support drops my £5 a week but carers allowence is £53 a week so worth losing that£5.
Good luck
