Wow - no wonder you're confused! My son was diagnosed with ASD too - though I'm interested to know what 'core' autism is? He was diagnosed by 2 Paedetricians, Speech and Language, Ed Psychologist and Portage. We haven't had any multi team meetings yet but lots of reports by different people have been written.

I can't believe how different parts of the country operate so differently when it comes to appts, specialists etc!! We ended up with Jack's diagnosis after we asked for an assessment as we were concerned that something wasn't quite right with his development. Glad we did as we now know where we are heading.

Is there any one specialist you see more than the others - could you express your concerns and frustration to them?

Frustating i know and always worse with a bad doctor!
Maybe you could ask for another doctor in the mean time?
Other than that you could wait for the assesment and then ask for a follow up under another clinic?
Failing that you could have an independent assesment from Bibic http://www.bibic.org.uk/
