i finaly got my daughters provisional statement through last week its only taken 2 years and now we have to send it back and disagree that the funding isnt enough will this ever be sorted out??
Just wondering did you have any assistance with the statementing process or did you leave them to it?
May i suggest an organisation called IPSEA there website address is
http://www.ipsea.org.uk/ and offer impartial advice on all things statement and education related and can offer you some guidance on how to request changes to the provisional statement and increase funding.
Be careful as LA only offer the bare minimal with proposed statement. Write a list of every thing that was recomended your child needs and check the statement covers it. Make sure the statement cannot be interpreted in any other way that suits the school rather than your child. for example.. 20 hours 1-1 or small group work is no good for any child, a school can interpret that as 1 teacher and 1 LSA in the class. your child would have to share there support with the whole class. If you have written advice that says your child needs 1-1 then stick to it. or have the small group specfiy how small a group should be. 4-6. Go to a support group or get independent advice and work right through your childs statement. Well done for getting this far, your almost there.
