Do any members attend any special needs support groups of any kind?
How do you find these and do you have to pay to go?

What sort of speakers if any do you get attend?
I don't now, although I did used to attend the school for parents group, before Matthew started full time nursery and that was a godsend. It was basically a bunch of parents getting together, doing some sensory and physical stuff with a physiotherapist and occupational therapist, but it was nice to be amongst 'those in the know' and share the other Children milestones, no matter how 'small' they would seem to typical parents!
well we have attended the Wirral Resource Centre and Toy Library for almost 2 years which is a charity organisation providing support for disabled children from 0-5 and their carers/parents
they have afull week with different sessions for example we attend a play therapy session with physio support but they have speack and language sessions, and neo natal support groups also
In our session the Children spend 2 hours in the nursery and the parents stay on site but in the parents sitting room where we have a cup of tea, chat and relax, very often discussing lots of different issues affecting us.
I have honesltly found this service invaluable and don't know what I would have done without it. We have recently raised funds for them too as we wish to be able to continue to use it until our little boy is 5 and then obviously for the serivce to continue for many years to come
My children are older --23,15 and 12 and the place I got to for support is our local Princess Royal Trust for Carers. We are lucky enough to have a dedicated parents worker and to have regular meetings. Once a month on a Tues evening and every other Thursday morning. The groups vary between a general chit chat ver coffee to speakers from social services. efucation stc. We have had people from the DWP too. We were talking about next sessions programme and the subject of wills and guardianship are 2 of the topics that will be covered.

I really like the idea of the nursery for the children whilst the adults chat.
Also the speakers such as the DWP etc is an excellent idea.
