Parents of disabled children-Special needs forum support group

Hi All,

We are having some cousins coming over this weekend who has a son about 6 months younger than varun. His mom has always been a big talker and now when she keeps talking about her sons achievements, it just makes me feel very depressed. Does anyone have a similar feeling with friends / family visiting? How do you'll cope?

I have this type of attitude time and time again. I try and let it go over my head but it does get to me, I talk it through with my mum and she takes me out for ME time. I have a friend of the family who is only interested in her problems and not just wanting to talk to me! So it is hard. I wish I could wave a magic wand and help make it better for you. When you get your chance do all your best to point out your child's achievements no matter what. Just carry on the way you do every weekend without her normally being there and try try to let it go over your head, it is not worth the worry or stress that it causes you will only make yourself sick and thats no good for your child or the family. Enjoy the weekend and let her see it doesnt bother you maybe thats what she wants to do! Enjoy yourself. Maybe go out in a group and then you are not in the house you can move around more outside.
