Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

Hi All

My name is Kara and I am a Mom to one little boy of 15 months.
He has no diagnosis but has GDD, Muscle tone weakness, Brain damage amongst some other things.

I am finding it hard to meet any parents, I went to a Pip's group but because Grayson looks physically normal they don't seem to accept us there, but at groups for "normal" children Grayson is too different and does not get on there.

He goes to a special hospital nursery once a week which is great for him but I am finding it hard apart from here with your guys and girls to find anyone to talk to in the same boat.

My husband equally so, we only have 2 local father groups and both are for "normal" Children, my hubby has no family or friends to talk and sometimes each other is just not enough, if you understand.

So looking for anyone in my part of the country.

Thanks
Kara

Hello
We live in Ashford, are you far from here? Our daughter Charlotte has just turned three and has a similar condition to your son. She doesnt have an actual diagnosis just gdd and low muscle tone. It is quite frustrating not having a diagnosis, although I am not sure that giving her condition a label would make any difference! Charlotte has just started nursery and loves it, as far as I can tell. We also have two other terrors, Ewan and Ethan.
