Announcement

Families who have children and young people with special needs very often deal with similar life styles. We have all had concerns ranging from education, acess to services, respite and other issues directly related to their childrens needs. Parents of disabled children bring families together for friendship, to share information and to support one another.

The forum was created by parents who have children with special needs and is run by parents so we are all in this together. With us you will realise you are not alone

Parents of disabled children launched in October 2009 and we are growing day by day and are fastly becoming a major support resource for all

LOL, haha yeah for demented mothers LOL.... good one Daniel.

Seriously, I have thought about it, there's a group called HOPE in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire for families with Children with autism and it was set up by frustrated parents, now there's a waiting list to get into it!!!! Unfortunately, as I don't live in North Lanarkshire I would never get a place there, boohoo!

Don't understand why in this day and age there is so little support out there for everyone.

Karen, do you go the SENSE in Glasgow, they've got a playgroup called Twinkletots, have you took you're wee'uns there?? Only asking coz I was told about it for Calum

Teejay sense scotland have a touch base out there, and i dont know if we are allowed to just turn up. Hope has a waiitng list. Have you went to cranhill beacon they have a free soft play in there.
teejay i think it comes to funding, money money all the time. they can afford to give people adaptions to there houses instead of providing us with clubs and that.

Hahha yeah, funding is a word I've heard alot of the past two years!!! Yet again, we had our PSA taken away in December and had to complain to the Education to get another one, you've guessed it lack of funding, sick of hearing it to be honest, I've learned, like everyone you have to fight for everything!! Angry. We've got another one now albeit she's temporary so could get taken away anytime, if and when that happens Calum will have to deal with it again, my wee lamb gets so stressed with it all, he hates change.

you know i think matthew has Autism as he doesnt like the sudden change to his routine. and he will walk along the wall and look out the side of his eyes, or he will crawl around in a circle a few times.

Calum still does that, he would spin one way and his eyes went the other way, they call it stimming. He looks at things in an odd way like he's lining it up, he flaps his hands now when he's in sensory overload!

Have you had him assessed by anyone??
